About Friends of Hearst Castle

Friends of Hearst Castle, a nonprofit cooperating association, supports preservation and interpretation of Hearst Castle, including its art, artifacts, architecture and grounds through membership, education, outreach and special events; enhancing understanding and appreciation, and thereby enriching the visitor experience.

Established in 1985, Friends of Hearst Castle (FHC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cooperating association affiliated with Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument®, and the San Luis Obispo Coast District of California State Parks. Through membership and fundraising, FHC provides  funds for educational, interpretive, and artifact conservation programs and supports the District's ongoing efforts to improve visitor services. Friends' support helps to increase public access to, and appreciation of, this unique historical and cultural resource.

The Living History program and historic props, both sponsored by FHC, enrich the experience of Hearst Castle Visitors

Artifact conservation is a major part of FHC's funding program, helping to preserve the Castle for generations to come.

FHC supports children's educational programs at the Castle as well as San Simeon State Park
