MICHAEL W. RADER
NEWLY APPOINTED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
FRIENDS OF HEARST CASTLE
Michael Rader
San Simeon, CA - Michael W. Rader has been hired as the new Executive Director of Friends of Hearst Castle. After gaining extensive experience in the tourism industry as a corporate executive and participating in a variety of community programs, he anticipates the new experiences that are on the horizon. "The talent and commitment of everyone associated with the Friends is very apparent. I am eager to work with all the volunteers, board and staff toward the continued success of this organization."

For over fifteen years, Michael served on the management team of American Eagle, a subsidiary of American Airlines. From consumer relations to contract negotiations, and from market planning to promotional campaigns, his familiarity with the myriad aspects of business development will be a great asset to Friends of Hearst Castle. "We feel that Michael will take us into the next phase of professionalism as we grow in our involvement with the community," Search Committee Chair Missy Ford related at the meeting.

In addition to his business acumen, Michael has been involved in the San Luis Obispo County community for many years. He served the San Luis Obispo County Visitors and Conference Bureau as both Vice-President and President in the 1990s, and was a delegate to the Governor's Conference on Tourism. He also worked with the San Luis Obispo YMCA, Achievement House and Cal Poly Arts in fund-raising capacities. Cooperating Association Liaison Hoyt Fields commented, "Michael's reputation in the community is excellent. San Simeon District is looking forward to working with Michael on the common goal of making Hearst Castle's educational and interpretive experiences even better."
